OUR STORY

Let’s start out with what the Merrick Strong Box isn’t - It’s not your typical gun storage. Visually, it’s nothing you’ve seen before. That’s probably why you’re here. You may already have a gun safe that looks like a 1950’s refrigerator. It serves its purpose just fine. However, it’s not the most aesthetically pleasing thing you’ve ever purchased.

 

Merrick Strong Box is based out of Salt Lake City, in the heart of the Rocky Mountains. We have more than a welding torch and a saw. We have some the finest designers and craftsmen you can find. We consider each product we create to be a piece of art. We take time ensuring that every seam and every wood grain looks and acts the way we want it to.

 

Mountain Contemporary

 

We have coined this phrase to describe our design style. Mountain Contemporary: simple, clean, and uncluttered; striking vivid and sharp contrasts. Connection between indoor and outdoor elements. Though this form of design incorporates a lot of ‘industrial’ elements, it is not cold, but inviting. We often use living finishes with our products. Using a “Living Finish” refers to embracing the natural aging process of textures and colors of earthly elements. Where some see flaws, others see character, and long for its continual change in patina. I think the best description of our design style came from one of our client's neighbors, who happened to see one of our products mid-installation.

Why the Elephant?

 

The Merrick Strong Box is the “Elephant in the Room”. It’s impossible to overlook. It’s large, exotic, strong, and striking. It’s the big issue that everyone wants to discuss.
